Establish New Credit
You may need to establish credit if you:
Have had a credit card for less than 3 years.
Have never had a credit card.
Have a limited or no credit history.
Are a student, new to the country, or a young person working for a living.
Have been an authorized user on someone else's credit card.

You may need to improve your credit if the following applies to you:
You currently have or have had a US loan or credit card.
Your credit limit on a current credit card, if any, is less than $5,000.
You may have been late on more that one credit card, medical bill, or loan payment in the last six months.
If you have been turned down for a standard credit card you will need to rebuild your credit beginning with a secured credit card. You are going to have to start somewhere and the best place to start is with a credit card company that will guarantee your approval and will report to the credit agencies. After several months you can move up to a more traditional credit card.
